Win 7/Firefox

I think I lost HP Solution Ctr because of an Adobe conflict. Adobe updated new version 4/28, I think, so I guess I did it this week. Time flies.

Uninstalled Adobe Flash Plugin. Reinstalled latest version. HP Solution Ctr did not open (I can click on it, but it should open automatically when you load a fax). Uninstalled Flash Plugin. Reinstalled earlier Flash Plugin version. HP Solution Center still will not load.

Newly downloaded HP software twice or so, since March.
Shouldn't have to uninstall and reinstall printer AGAIN.
Can't imagine what else would cause the conflict. There have not been any MS updates since early April.
Last week Solution Ctr was working - unstable as usual, I assume.

Without going overboard, or spending several more hours trying to find a solution, has anybody an idea? It's always something with HP, but a this isn't something as frequent as "can't send fax w/SC."

Thank you.

Jay.

Sure.
Wish I were positive of the date.
No big deal to undo four day's worth of changes?

Thank you.

Go back to a restore point that you are sure was before the issue. If it works, fine. If not then just restore back to current. Of course you would want to create a new restore to go back to current if needed.

Remember that System restore will not lose any data files. You will just lose changed system settings and installs since the restore date.

It healed itself.

I had several days of MS updates, and sometimes a later update fixes an earlier update that conflicted.
I'm going to give up asking questions about Solution Center. If in a year's time, I ask again, feel free to remind me.

Nancy, a general observation I've found. HP hardware is usually pretty good. HP Software is the pits. I'd get rid of the solution ctr, and see if windows has generic drivers. Other option is HP may just have the drivers. Given the time you've wasted........

Do backup/image before making changes.

Pete

Peter,

Nice to see you! It's a great observation. Instead of getting rid of it, I'll learn to appreciate it when it works and ignore it when it doesn't. 99% of the time, the fax capability stops working (that's the MS conflict to which I refer above) temporarily. HP doesn't have just drivers - last time I checked (March), it has had the same total printer sw package released in 2010. What kind of generic Windows driver would I look for? You can't download just Solution Center - if that helps you in your next answer.

Yes, backup/image, before making changes - always.
Thank you.
