I bought a new - but same model - HP printer last month. I guess I got my first "blue box" popup reminding me to install updates.
I wouldn't have downloaded it intentionally. I searched everywhere (including Hidden Folders) and I do not have anything name HP Updates. So, if I don't have it - in obvious places like Programs/Features - how do I remove this?
There is not a "Total Care" download, and the only HP download is the Update Software Utility. Is this my only choice?
Not critical, but I am surprised that I have it, can't find its source, and can't remove it.
Thank you.

HP Update should show in Programs and Features but can tend to refuse to be removed. My last experience with this was about a week ago but was not really involving a current printer so I will refrain from giving any actual advice until we see what others say.

Really, Jay? Odd, I have never had a problem removing it. What problem did you have?

It flatly refused to go away. Hindsight being 20/20 it was probably due to an involved process still running. It was a Win 7 machine that would attempt to install HP stuff when booted. Had to cancel MANY times to get past it. Even though was past the dialogs the process was likely still running. I ended up removing everything HP that I could and then installing the most recent version selecting to NOT install the Updater.

Jay, I came across your complaint online, but I don't remember if/what the fix was.
I would add that I tried "hidden folders" and entered any search term from what I perceived as logical suggestions. A great website listed - among other useful info - software from 3rd-party downloads in which Updates are found, but I did not download any programs - and searched a couple anyway. Got nothing. I wish it were obvious.
Thank you.

Basically I just installed the latest package for the printer from the HP site and selected to NOT install the updater under custom or advanced install. I DID remove everything HP that I could first.

This software is identical to my last model, so I would have recognized it, had it been offered in the reinstall.
Mine was sneaked in. In my avid quest, I found a digital imaging dll (in startup) that I unchecked - paused - and may have improved the ever-unstable Solution Center program. Might not have, also.
Glad you found your solution.
