I haven't used the free Adobe PDF Reader in years, but I wanted to try it again to see if it's better than Foxit. It displays PDF forms very well, but there is no toolbar so I can't save, print or do anything else with the form. I've right-clicked on every part of the window but there is no menu to display the toolbar. Any suggestions?

When you say 'toolbar' do you mean the fully-functional style Adobe used for decades across the screen top? Or do you mean the new, limited-characters style that comes and goes at screen bottom when you move your mouse near it? If the latter, then try clicking on the stylized Adobe "A" at the far right of the 'phantom' toolbar and the traditional one will appear for that session. You have to do this each time you open Reader. I hope that helps.

I have also heard that F-8 or F-9 will do the same thing.

As I do not run Adobe I have not tested either solution.

I was just looking for anything that has some controls over the window, Jay. I was unaware of the "phantom" one at screen bottom, but nothing happens when I move my cursor there, or anywhere else for that matter. However, your F8 and F9 suggestions do work -- I never thought of trying the F buttons. They open the toolbar and the menu bar at the top of the window, but they do not stay; guess you have to do this every time you want to control the action of the window. Thanks.

You are welcome. :) And yes, you have to do it every time you open.

No you don't. I've never done it, and the tool bars are always there. I tried F8 and F9 and they went away. Closed the reader and reopened it and they still are there.

Get them open and go to view>show/hide>toolbar settings. You might try the reset toolbars.

Just hover over the bottom of the window and an overlay appears with a print and save icon and a few other things. Toward the middle. It flashes when you first open the .pdf file, but it comes back when you hover over it. (This is for .pdf forms/pages displayed on the web.)

@ Pete: Thanks for the corrections. Since I don't install anything Adobe except Flash Player (not much choice) I could not directly test so went entirely with search results.

@ Patty: It would seem that Gerry does not get the hover menu at the bottom. Mayhaps this indicates a different but related issue. Possibly permissions?

Are you sure he doesn't get it, Jay?

The above would indicate that the floating menu is not available for Gerry. Can I absolutely know? Of course not but the given info points to this.

Yes, Jay is right. The only thing I see when hovering over the lower part of the window is the document size in the lower left: 8.5 x 11 in. But both the menu bar and tool bar are staying visible at the top. F-8 hides the toolbar and F-9 hides the menu bar.
