Well, the fact that both issues point to a MAPI problem, the likely root cause is multiple copies of the DLL residing on the PC with conflicting pointers to the incorrect version for the interaction desired with Outlook. Alternatively, it could simply be a corrupt or missing Registry key. Repair may or may not work, depending on the root cause and how much replacement/updating the repair does. Hence my reasoning for simply using the more inconvenient workaround(s). -steve

If you do decide to do an Office repair make sure to select on-line repair as that will replace all Office files. I can't remember the name for the other repair mode but it tends to be much less effective.

I haven't tried the Win Fax & Scan, but I apparently fixed the MAPI error with Excel: PDFs work and I don't know if I tried that before, but I just sent an Excel spreadsheet and PDF via Save & Send (and Share). I followed the instructions - in detail below, from Ethan - because the same issue occurred after an update in December. 1. It was too similar to ignore. 2. It was from last month. 3. It worked for the questioner, for a change. I renamed the file MAPI file and restarted OL. https://partnersupport.microsoft.com/en ... dad?auth=1

Not Word specifically, but I have had obstacles w/every last one of a dozen Excel spreadsheets. Same diff, I imagine. Am I wrong? (I grabbed the two most recent email attachments, which happened to be the PDF and spreadsheet.)
You are welcome.

Well it is sort of along the line that you started this thread with a Word issue and posted an Excel solution. Unless you test within Word we have no idea as to if the issue is solved...

The fix works in .DOCX files - perfectly.
